The Gospel is utterly free, but it costs you everything. Our life in Christ is a free gift and our impossible debt has been fully paid. We have been set free and given an eternal inheritance. But our lives in the here and now are plagued with difficulty, both because we all live in a broken world and also directly because of our union with Christ. But we are not left alone and defenceless. We have the Holy Spirit, the power of God himself, in and with us, protecting us from the attacks in our lives.
