Passage: Hebrews 10:19-25

Speaker: Brian Land

Series: GRACE DNA

Category: General

Keywords: gospel, hope, essentials

The Gospel is for the believer and the non-believer. Every morning we all wake up in need of the Breath of God to give us life and the life of God in Christ to rescue us. This in no way means we lose our salvation when we sleep. It simply means that I need Jesus just as much now as ever before. We don't "graduate" into a place where I need less forgiveness, less of God's mercy, less of God's power. We are always in the same amount of need; always being fully loved and embraces; always being brought home.

Hebrews 10:19-25

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confessioof our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near

CALL TO WORSHIP:

Revelation 15:2-4
And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, sayin
“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations![fn]
4 Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Read this passage all together, then read it on your own and

make some notes on what sticks out to you.

This passage gets to the very heart of the Gospel: our separation from God; our way back into the presence of God; living out our new relationship with God.

Talk about this “Gospel Order”

    Who God is...

       Leads to What God Does...

           Leads to Who We Are...

               Leads to What We do

How do we often get the order backwards?

Talk about the security we have in the presence of God, and how it relates to this quote from Gentle and Lowly: “In order for you to fall short of loving embrace into the heart of Christ both now and into eternity, Christ himself would have to be pulled down out of heaven and put back in the grave.” (Gentle and Lowly, p. 66)

How can this draw us into actually ENJOYING God?

The second half of the passage gives us three ways we “express” the gospel...talk about each one.

1) Draw Near (to God):

2) Hold Fast (because God is holding onto you)

3) Stir Up (one another in encouragement and good works).
