Encounters: The Bleeding Woman (Click here for Resources)

Passage: Mark 5:25-34

Speaker: Brian Land

Series: Encounters with Jesus

Category: Grace Brevard

Keywords: alone, unclean, healed, loved, rejected, shunned, ostracized

Jesus can reach deep enough and get dirty enough for all of us, especially the ones that the world pushes down. Perpetually Jesus tells us (i.e. the Sermon on the Mount: “poor in spirit, meek, persecuted”) that he has come for the lowest, the sickest, the most desperate. He breaks the cultural norms and makes clean those who are unclean; healthy those who are sick; alive those who are dead. Our role is simply to reach out to Jesus in faith that he is good enough, powerful enough, to make us alive. There are times when he truly will heal our physical sickness, but the good news is that he will ALWAYS heal the spiritual sickness of those who reach out.
