Encounters: Road to Emmaus (Click here for Resources)

Passage: Luke 24:13-27

Speaker: Brian Land

Series: Encounters with Jesus

Category: Grace Brevard

Keywords: story, scripture, messiah, big picture, hidden

The resurrected Jesus once again comes alongside his confused and grieving friends. So many times Jesus seems to not be who we thought, or hoped, he would be. And all of these times he is actually more and better than we had hoped. When dark clouds surround us we whisper to ourselves that, if Jesus was really the Son of God, then these things wouldn’t be happening. But the reality is not a lesser Jesus, but a slower and blinder us. We understand so much less than we thought and fail to “connect the dots” and see the Gospel big picture. But Jesus is miraculously patient and, like he did to these two, meets us in their need and reveals Who he really is: the one and only Son of God, the Alpha and Omega, the One to whom all Scripture points.
