Advent Week 2: "Peace and Joy. With God"

Passage: Luke 2:8-20

Speaker: Brian Land

Series: Advent

Category: Grace Brevard

Keywords: advent, christmas, hope, joy, peace

“Peace on Earth! Joy to the World!” Does this actually ring true to your real life? There is so much conflict and anger permeating our world (and our own personal hearts) that somehow experiencing peace and joy feels impossible. When we look at the present-day self-centered circumstances, our heart-rest and soul-joy will ebb and flow, being dependent on ever-changing events and our fickle hearts. True Peace and Joy are actually constructed on the unchanging foundation of God himself, not on situations. Jesus, being GOD WITH US, brings with him the end of our war against God through the forgiveness of our treason, which in turn changes our inner-identity and converts us from enemies to friends, even heirs. Because of this inversion of our spiritual conflict, our peace and joy sprouts new growth as our belief that King Jesus is truly WITH US as he is in charge, truly loves us, and one day will truly make all things come to ultimate Peace, which brings us present-day Joy as we wait with nostalgic anticipation.
