We all need to hear the Gospel again and again. We all struggle with bouts of doubt. We hear about others’ encounters with Jesus and roll our eyes, either in skepticism, or possibly in jealousy because we wish we could have that eye-opening encounter with Jesus. So often we have been shamed by others and even by ourselves for our doubt, thinking that God must be disappointed in our feeble faith. But what the Lord wants is honesty. To bring our hopes and dreams, and fears and faithlessness to him. He wants us to be honest with ourselves because he already knows what is happening on the inside. It is into these times of wavering faith that Jesus shows up and reminds us who he is and what he has done to get the scars on his hands, feet and side, and now WHO WE ARE as precious children of God, for whom he has bought perfect peace.
